2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB Local Production Begins Ahead of India Launch on October 9
Mercedes-Benz has commenced local production of the 2024 E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India, ahead of its anticipated launch on October 9. The local assembly has begun at the brand’s Chakan facility in Maharashtra. The new E-Class is making its way to India just over a year after its global launch. Now, in its sixth generation, the Mercedes model was the first offering from the premium German carmaker to be assembled locally in India in 1995. The car gets a newly automated body shop line for the rear floor, incorporating robotics, intelligent automation, and advanced joining technologies for body production. Mercedes-Benz emphasises that this setup is backed by a “robust supply chain” for the E-Class, facilitating its “Make in India” initiatives. This marks a significant step for the company, aiming to cater to the growing demand for premium vehicles in the Indian market.
