Exciting upcoming luxury cars in 2024

The Luxury car market in India has seen a significant growth in the recent decades. The Manufacturers are nowadays considering the Indian market as a priority as well and we now observe the global launches also showcased in Indian Auto Shows as well.
The luxury car manufacturers now have also started assembling and even manufacturing their cars in India. A few manufacturers even started exporting their India manufactured cars in recent years.
In India the luxury car market is about to see a lot of new launches in the upcoming months in 2024.
AUDI:

Audi’s Q6 e-Tron will be a Compact luxury crossover SUV with a coupe like silhouette. This car is based on the Premium Platform Electric(PPE), which is Audi’s new platform which is built grounds up for better city drivability and charging speeds. This platform is also shared by Porsche’s all new Macan electric.
The Q6 e-Tron is supposed to have:

83 kWh or 100 kWh battery pack as option
Power output ranging from 380hp to 480hp
Single-speed automatic transmission
Two motors: Front Asynchronous motor and Rear permanent magnet synchronous motor
WLTP range of around 600 km
Audi’s new infotainment tech with twin screens in a curved layout
Audi’s Digital drivers display
A 14.5-inch infotainment screen and a 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger

Porsche:

Porsche’s Tycan has seen a lot of success since its launch in India. Porsche is now set to launch the newer more powerful facelifted Tycan in India. This new facelift will include:

New LED headlamps with HD Matrix design
Redesigned bumpers with air vents
New redone bumpers and tail lamps at the rear
New leather-free interior options
Power bump up to 952hp from 761hp in Turbo S

483hp from 326hp in the base Rear-wheel drive variant

105 kWh or 89 kWh battery pack
678 km of WLTP range

Land Rover:
Jaguar Land Rover is all set to produce their flagship SUVs The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India itself. This decision will reduce the prices of these flagships by a significant amount. However there are no significant upgrades in the feature list or engine options as such.

Range Rover(Made in India)

The 3 litres Diesel engine Range Rover (HSE Long Wheelbase) will have a price drop of rupees 44 lakhs and will now cost Rs. 2.36 crores

Range Rover Sport(Made in India)

The 3 litres Diesel mill in Range Rover Sport will observe a 29 lakh rupees price drop and the new price will be Rs. 1.40 crores
KIA:

Carnival (4th Generation)

The Korean manufacturer has been selling it’s cars in good numbers in India. However their luxury MPV, Carnival, has not been very popular in India. The Carnival present till date in India was the older generation which had been discontinued in the international market.
The new 4th generation Carnival has seen a lot of significant upgrades:

Majorly updated styling
New LED lights with projector setup
Connected tail lights
New 4 seat configuration option with rear seat entertainment package
4,7,9 seat layouts as options
8 airbags as standard throughout the range
2 litres Diesel engine with 200 hp and 441 Nm of torque
Expected price – Upwards of Rs. 35 lakhs
EV9

The World car of the Year 2024 and the World Electric Car of the Year 2024. EV9 is Kia’s 7 seater option in the electric vehicle car market. It is set to debut in India in the end of the year 2024 and join the EV6 in the electric car stable of Kia India. The key points about the EV9 are:

Ultra-high-strength steel to provide a robust yet lightweight structure

Dual electric motors e-AWD
Ultra-fast, 350kW DC fast charger compatibility

Nissan:

The Japanese Manufacturer has been present in India since 2005 and the very first model the came up in the Indian car market was X-Trail. In the year 2014 the SUV was discontinued due to poor sales. The car targeted market for this luxury crossover in India unfortunately became Toyota’s Fortuner and Ford’s Endeavour which lied in the same price bracket.
In the year 2024, Nissan India, is set to launch their Crossover SUV. Some of the points related to X-Trail would be:

No Diesel option initially
No Hybrid option
Only one Petrol option, a 1.5 litres 3-cylinder Turbo Petrol engine
204 hp power output and 305 Nm of Torque
CVT gearbox
2-wheel drive initially, no confirmation on AWD variant

Skoda:

Enyaq is a Compact Crossover SUV from the Czech manufacturer. It is based on the MEB platform of the Volkswagen group. Skoda showcased their Enyaq in Bharat Mobility Show in 2024 and is planning to launch it in the last quarter of 2024.

125 kW D/C fast charging compatible
513 km of claimed range
Price range – Upwards of Rs. 55 lakhs

BMW:

BMW has already launched the i5 in India and the Long Wheelbase version is due for a launch by the end of 2024. This car will have the same battery and motor configuration as the shorter i5 but will have an extended wheelbase to meet the long cars demand in the Indian car market.
Mercedes-Benz:

E-class LWB(Long Wheelbase)

Will have similar engine configuration as of the shorter wheelbase version.
The upgrades will include:

5092 mm of extended overall length of the car
3 screen layout dashboard
12.2 inch Driver’s display, 14.4 inch infotainment screen and a display for front passenger
G-Class(Diesel-Hybrid)

A mild refresh to the existing G-Class with some upgrades:

Revised Front bumper and radiator grille
Rounded-off A-pillars
Infotainment system with Touch control, first for a G-class
Mercedes’s transparent bonnet function
Keyless entry
Temperature controlled cup holders
Wireless mobile charger
G400D has 3.0 litres straight six engine with a – 48V integrated starter generator 357 hp and 750 Nm

G-Class G580(Electric)

First time the G-Class is set to go all electric. It has the similar exterior styling as the G400D with some discrete EV badging. The new spoiler lid and the new A-pillar design has helped increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. Spare wheel holder mounted at the back can be used as a charging cable hoarder as an option. The key spec will include:

The smallest electric offering by Mercedes in the Crossover/SUV segment. Not a lot is known about the India spec EQA but what is expected from it are:

Lotus:

The first offering from the British sports car manufacturer in India is the Eletre. This is an all electric offering from Lotus and is likely to be offered in three trims, Eletre, Eletre S and Eletre R.
The SUV is a Coupe like silhouette with some very promising specs to follow:

22 inch 10-spoke forged alloys
Roof mounted 3-stage deployable split spoiler made of Carbon Fibre
Rear tail lights can illuminate in Orange and Green colour depending on the battery charging
15.1 inch center infotainment which can be folded away when not needed
Dash split similar to the split spoiler splitting the dash into two
603 hp, 710 Nm with 600 km range for Eletre and Eletre S
905 hp, 905 Nm with 490 km range for the Eletre R
258 km/h top speed for the Eletre R making it the fastest production SUV
Prices

Rs. 2.55 cr for Eletre
Rs. 2.75 cr for Eletre S
Rs. 2.99 cr for Eletre R

This is the last Internal Combustion Engine option from Lotus and is also set for a debut in India in 2024.

400 hp 6-cylinder supercharged engine
