The Citroen Basalt, the brand’s fourth model under the C-Cubed programme, is all set to make its India debut on 2nd August, 2024. Its launch date, however, is yet to be announced. The Basalt is a coupe SUV competing directly with the upcoming Tata Curvv and mid-size SUVs, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara. Citroen will also introduce the electric iteration of the Basalt in early 2025.

Some of its design elements seem inspired by the C3 Aircross, such as a two-part grille, chromed Chevron logo, faux silver skid plate, LED DRLs, and bonnet. The front grille inserts have a slightly different finish, projector headlamps (instead of halogen units), squared-off wheel arches with different cladding, and a pinched window line on both sides differentiate it from its sibling. The C-pillar has a blacked-out extension of the window line. It also features pull-type door handles, newly-designed taillamps with new and larger LED signatures, and a dual-tone bumper with black and silver finish.

Measuring around 4.3 meters in length, the Citroen Basalt will have more features on board than the C3 Aircross. Unlike other C-Cubed models, the new coupe SUV might be offered with features such as automatic climate control, electric folding mirrors, wireless charging, push-button start and keyless entry, and cruise control.

The coupe SUV could also be packed with a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, connected car tech, steering-mounted controls, adjustable headrests, front and rear USB chargers, hill hold control, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and more.

The Basalt coupe SUV will derive its power from the 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, similar to the other C-Cubed models. The motor, with manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options, offers a maximum power of 110bhp and a peak torque of 205Nm.
