Gurucharan Singh Claims TMKOC Makers Replaced Him Without Information, “I Didn’t Leave Show”

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most famous and longest running serials of Indian television and actor Gurucharan Singh is one of the founding cast members of the show. He played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the show from 2008-12 and then he returned after a year and played the character till 2020.

Gurucharan Singh made headlines recently when he went missing, he was supposed to board a flight for Mumbai from Delhi but that didn’t happen and there was no news of his whereabouts. Gurucharan’s father filed a missing complaint but police was not able to find the actor, however he returned after 26 days and told that he went on a spiritual journey.
Gurucharan had a meeting with Asit Kumarr Modi, the producer of TMKOC and it is being said that he asked Modi to oust Balwinder Suri (the actor who is currently playing Sodhi) and urged to take him back as Sodhi. However, Asit Modi rejected this demand straightaway and now Gurucharan Singh has given an interview in which he made some startling revelations.

Here’s what Gurucharan Singh stated, “Taraak Mehta is like my family because if I didn’t consider them as family, I would have said a lot of things about them which I didn’t. In 2012, they replaced me, I didn’t leave the show.”
He further added, “There was some conversation about contract and agreement going on at that time. They didn’t even tell me that they were going to replace me. I was in Delhi and I was sitting with my family members and we were watching Taarak Mehta. And in that episode, Dharam paaji had a cameo for a film promotion or something. I said ‘wow, Dharam paaji is here’ and in that episode, they introduced the new Sodhi. I was shocked when I saw that. I was watching it with my parents and they were just as shocked.”

It was then Gurucharan Singh realized that he has been replaced by another actor in the show. He talked about the slamming that the makers got for replacing him and revealed that even he was scolded by many people. In his words, “They were under a lot of pressure after they replaced me. Even I was getting so much pressure from the audience. When I would go to the gym, people would say ‘Why have you left? This is not fun you should go back’ and they would say this angrily. People would scold me like you scold your family members. I said ‘it’s not up to me, it’s up to the bosses’.”

Gurucharan added that almost the same thing happened with Jennifer Mistry who played the character of Mrs. Roshan Singh Sodhi in TMKOC and she was also replaced without her knowledge.
Gurucharan Singh is currently looking for work and his fans also want to see him more on television.
