The Maruti Suzuki Dzire subcompact sedan was first launched in India in 2008 with 1.3L petrol and diesel engine options. Over its sixteen years of existence, the model has received multiple mid-life updates and two generational changes (in 2012 and 2017), achieving the milestone of 25 lakh sales by the end of last year. Interestingly, it’s the first sedan in India to cross the 1 million sales mark, holding a 50 percent market share in the subcompact sedan segment.

The third-generation Dzire has been in the market for nearly seven years and is finally ready to enter its next generation in the coming months (possibly in September 2024). The all-new Maruti Dzire will undergo comprehensive design changes and feature upgrades, along with the introduction of Suzuki’s new Z-Series petrol engine.

The design and styling of the 2024 Maruti Dzire will differ from the new Swift, although both models will share the same underpinning and sheet metal parts. The subcompact sedan might feature slightly different front and rear bumpers, tweaked headlamps, and alloy wheels. Dimensionally, it is likely to remain unchanged. Similar to the new Swift hatchback, the new-gen Dzire will share its interior layout and components with the Fronx and Baleno. The carmaker might introduce the new model with a sunroof, making it the first vehicle in its segment to offer this specific feature. Inside the cabin, it might also get brushed aluminum and faux finishes, along with lighter shade materials. Features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a large digital MID, steering-mounted cruise control, keyless entry and go, and other goodies will also be available.

Under the hood, the 2024 Maruti Dzire will feature the Swift’s 1.2L, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox options. This 12-valve motor delivers a claimed power of 82bhp and 108Nm of torque in the Swift. With mild hybrid technology, its power and torque increase by 3.1bhp and 60Nm.
