Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo – 10 Pros and 3 Cons

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a crossover hatchback/SUV which has created a niche for itself in our market.

In this post, I shall list 10 pros and 3 cons of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo. It is a slightly unique product in our market in the sense that it belongs to a segment somewhere between a premium hatchback and a compact SUV. In fact, it is based on the Baleno. That explains its dimensions and demeanour. Interestingly, there are no direct rivals to the Fronx. Still, due to its price range, one could consider the premium hatchbacks and compact SUVs to be its chief adversaries. As I got a chance to spend around 2 months with the vehicle, here are 10 pros and 3 cons of the crossover.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo – 10 Pros

Comfort – The most impressive aspect about the Fronx for me over the course of the duration I used it is the comfort due to the ride quality. This is true for first, as well as second-row seating.

Space – One thing you might not assume immediately from the outside is just how spacious the Fronx is. Maruti has designed it intelligently to ensure that every area of the cabin is utilized to offer the maximum space.

Performance – The turbo variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx has specifically been designed keeping in mind the enthusiastic drivers. The peppy turbo engine ensures that highway overtakes and quick manoeuvres are always a tap away.

Mileage – The most important criteria for a car to succeed in India is the mileage. I was able to get a decent mileage of around 15 km/l in the city and 19 km/l on the highways. That is more than most vehicles in this price range.

Engine and Transmission – Next up, the Fronx is offered in two engines and three transmission options. This includes a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The gearboxes include a 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT or 6-speed automatic.

Ground Clearance – Another key feature to have in a car in India is high ground clearance. The Fronx offers 190 mm of ground clearance which is enough to tackle most undulations our roads are infamous for.

CNG Option – For those who want a low running cost option, CNG is a great alternative. It reduces the fuel costs significantly. This is perfect for city dwellers where the infrastructure around CNG is aplenty.

Head-Up Display – Then there is the HUD, which you would normally find only on premium cars. It ensures that the driver doesn’t have to take their eyes off the roads to get basic information and navigation directions.

Suzuki Connect – Modern customers want connected car tech amenities to keep their smartphones in sync with the car. Hence, they can access all the applications on the screen of the vehicle.

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay – Finally, to enhance the convenience of the passengers, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hence, you don’t have to fiddle around with wires in the cabin.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo – 3 Cons

No Sunroof – Now this is really nit-picking. A lot of customers want their vehicles to have sunroofs. However, this amenity is not available with the Fronx.

No Rear Armrest – Another key miss I found at the back is the absence of an armrest. If one or two people are travelling, an armrest would really elevate their comfort on long journeys.

No Ventilated Seats – Finally, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx doesn’t offer ventilated seats. That is an important feature to beat the summer heat of the country. These are the top 10 pros and 3 cons of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo.
