‘I attended Anant Ambani’s wedding for love’
Bollywood actress Ananya Panday has set the record straight on the rumours surrounding the attendance of celebrities at the grand wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
Anant Ambani, the business tycoon and younger son of Mukesh Ambani, tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Radhika, also 29, in July 2024. The couple’s three-day wedding affair was preceded by two pre-wedding celebrations in March and June. It featured a star-studded guest list that included Bollywood A-listers, Indian cricketers, social media influencers, billionaires, tech moguls, and political heavyweights.
Reports had suggested that some of these celebrities were paid hefty sums to attend the high-profile wedding. However, Ananya Panday, who was one of the attendees at Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant’s wedding, has now denied these claims.
In a chat with Mashable India, Ananya Panday revealed that she attended the wedding celebrations because she wanted to be a part of her friends’ special day. She said, “They are my friends. I don’t understand why people think like this. I’ll dance wholeheartedly at my friends’ wedding. I love celebrating love.”
The ‘Call Me Bae’ actress also spoke about the Ambani family’s hospitality. She added, “Ambani family made everyone feel welcome. No matter how many functions were there, they greeted everyone with so much love and warmth. That’s such a beautiful quality because it makes everything feel very personal.”
Concluding her statement, that there was so much happening during the wedding festivities but Anant and Radhika were always very attentive to each other. The couple looked at each other with so much love that it felt magical. Panday said, “One big takeaway from the wedding was that so much was happening. But whenever Anant and Radhika would look at each other, it was just pure love. It felt like violins were playing behind them. That’s something I want in life — that no matter how much chaos is around- you and that person share that connection.”

Anant Ambani is the youngest chairman of Reliance Group and Radhika Merchant is the heiress of Viren Merchant’s Encore Healthcare. The wedding began with a 3-day pre-wedding ceremony at Jamnagar from March to June. And their wedding celebrations took place between 12 to 15 July in Mumbai’s BKC Jio World Drive. It was a lavish wedding that saw some of the most dignified personalities from across the globe.
