Husqvarna Vitpilen 801 Unveiled Globally, Gets KTM 790 Duke Engine, Bi-LED projector headlamp and More

Husqvarna has taken the wraps off the all-new Vitpilen 801, which is the company’s second motorcycle to be based on the KTM 790 Duke platform after the Husqvarna Svartpilen 801. Offered in two colour options (yellow and silver), the Husqvarna Vitpilen 801 is built to provide what Husqvarna says is an engaging riding experience, made possible by a 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine and state-of-the-art electronic rider aids. The parallel-twin engine makes 103.5bhp at 9,250rpm and 87Nm of peak torque at 8,000rpm, the same as the Svartpilen 801. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, and a bidirectional ‘Easy Shift’ quickshifter is available as an option. The chassis is a tubular steel unit, suspended by upside-down front forks (with 140mm travel) and a rear monoshock (with 150mm travel). Both are adjustable WP units. Braking duties are taken care of by dual 300mm discs with radially-mounted four-piston callipers at the front, and a single 240mm disc with a two-piston calliper at the rear. It has a new bi-LED projector headlight with an oval-shaped LED daytime running lamp. While the side panels and the tail section appear to be influenced by the Svartpilen 801, the front fenders and radiator shrouds look different. The bike comes with 17-inch cast alloy wheels fitted with Michelin Road 6 tyres. While the new bike’s handlebars are positioned lower, the footpegs are in the same position as the Svartpilen 801.  Husqvarna Vitpilen 801: Features, Electronic Aids The design is complemented by a 5.0-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Electronic aids include cornering-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, ride-by-wire, and three ride modes (Street, Rain, Sport). The Dynamic mode is offered as an optional extra, along with a 10-level adjustable rear wheel slip and a switchable Supermoto ABS mode. Other optional bits include cruise control and anti-wheelie control. Husqvarna Vitpilen 801: Dimensions, Weight The Husqvarna Vitpilen 801 sits 820mm above the ground and has a ground clearance of 170mm.
