Maruti Jimny Pickup Looks Butch and Macho – Want One?

A rather imposing iteration of the Maruti Jimny pickup is showcased in these latest renderings. Jimny is one of the most successful and well-known lightweight off-roading SUVs on the planet. In fact, it has been a revered product among the off-roading community across the globe for the past 5 decades. In its latest avatar in India, it has been on sale as a practical 5-door SUV for the first time in its existence. For now, let us delve into the details of this latest concept.

I must credit jimnysnow on Instagram for these images. The one on the left highlights all the rugged elements of this Jimny. At the front, there is a colossal hood scoop and the plastic cladding on all sections of the body is finished in matte black. I particularly like the adventurous bumper with cutouts from the sides to enhance the approach angle for those treacherous off-tarmac activities. There are red tow hooks and a sturdy skid plate underneath the bumper to protect the underbelly. There is also a functional winch installed at the centre of the bumper to perform towing activities.

Look closely and you will witness the auxiliary lighting on the roof to enhance the visibility during night rides. Moving down the sides reveals an even more aggressive demeanour. The prime highlight is the monstrous off-roading wheels with rugged high-profile tyres. The claddings on the wheel arches are ginormous and there is just a single door on this Maruti Jimny pickup. At the rear, the roof has been taken off and handy rods have been installed to carry passengers or luggage securely. The other model on the right also contains some similar elements and has an imposing stance. All in all, this has to be among the most hardcore virtual illustrations of the Jimny I have experienced in a long time.

My View

I appreciate the creativity of digital artists to design unfathomable iterations of mass-market cars. To see a familiar vehicle in a completely different light is great to break the monotony. I also love the fact that such digital avatars are not bound by any physical limitations. Hence, these artists often let their imaginations run wild which is why we get to see something so unique and attractive. I shall keep an eye out for more such cases in times to come.
