Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for several new launches, placing significant emphasis on electric vehicles. The automaker has been working on the XUV.e and BE series, both consisting entirely of electric SUVs. Following the recent debut of the five-door Thar Roxx in India, Mahindra is expected to release an electrified variant of the XUV 3XO compact SUV in the coming months as well.
It could be preceded by the BE.05, which was spotted undisguised during an ad shoot recently. It will be manufactured at Mahindra’s facility in Chakan near Pune and will likely launch on November 26, 2024. The BE.05 announces a brand new design philosophy for Mahindra and it certainly stands out with a strong road presence.
The Mahindra BE.05 boasts prominent C-shaped lighting units and a large greenhouse that should offer an airy cabin feel. Its sculpted surfaces, sleek body panels, and sporty aero-styled alloy wheels add to its dynamic appearance. The design is further enhanced by smart door handles, heavily raked windscreens and wide air inlets while the piano’s black roof, pillars, claddings, and muscular wheel arches give it a bold look. Bumper trims help conceal its bulk, reinforcing the SUV’s sporty and aggressive stance.

Mahindra BE.05 Concept
The interior of the Mahindra BE.05 will focus heavily on technology, with two primary screens handling most functions – one dedicated to instrumentation and the other for infotainment. This design minimizes the need for physical buttons, offering a clean and modern look. Aviation-inspired cabin elements add to its futuristic aesthetic, creating a high-tech, environment for the driver and passengers.
Staying true to its concept, the Mahindra BE.05 will measure 4,370 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. Though it was expected to feature an electric motor sourced from Volkswagen, this powertrain may not be available immediately at launch, suggesting that alternative configurations could be offered initially.

The Mahindra BE.05, set to rival the Tata Curvv EV, will be powered by a Valeo-supplied electric motor producing 231 hp and 380 Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels. It will offer two battery options: a 60 kWh pack and a larger 79 kWh pack, the latter providing a claimed range of over 450 km based on the WLTP cycle. The SUV will be built on the INGLO skateboard platform.
