Eshwarya Ramnathan, an extraordinary individual from the coastal district of Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, has become a beacon of inspiration for many. Growing up in a region prone to natural disasters like floods, cyclones, and heavy rains, she faced significant challenges early on. The devastating tsunami of 2004 left a profound impact on her life, shaping her aspirations and determination. During this tumultuous period, she drew inspiration from the actions of Collector Gagandeep Singh Bedi, who left an indelible mark on her ambitions.Family Influence and MotivationEshwarya’s family background played a crucial role in motivating her. Her father, R. Ramnathan, is a cashew farmer, while her mother, who married young and later secured a government position, encouraged Eshwarya to pursue her dreams of becoming a collector. Their support and dedication to overcoming economic challenges fueled her desire to achieve great things.Academic Journey and UPSC PreparationEshwarya began her journey toward civil services by earning an engineering degree from Anna University in Chennai in 2017. While in college, she initiated her preparation for the UPSC exam through coaching. In her first attempt, she secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 630, which earned her a position in the Indian Railways Accounts Service. However, her ambition to become an IAS officer motivated her to take the exam again.Achieving Her DreamIn 2019, Eshwarya realized her dream by passing the UPSC exam with a remarkable AIR of 47 in her second attempt. In an interview following her success, she reflected on how her childhood dreams were rooted in her aspirations, and she credited her mother for her unwavering support.Current Role and ImpactAt just 24 years old, Eshwarya Ramnathan became one of the youngest IAS officers in India. She currently serves as the Sub-Collector and SDM in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, where she continues to inspire countless individuals with her dedication and resilience. Her journey serves as a powerful reminder that with determination, support, and hard work, one can overcome challenges and achieve their dreams.
