Nissan Patrol SUV India Launch On Cards

Nissan introduced the X-Trail premium three-row SUV as a halo product in India this year. Aiming to further boost its brand identity, the Japanese automaker might bring its globally popular Nissan Patrol SUV as a CBU (Completely Built Up) unit. If the plan gets approved, it might arrive in India in 2026 to challenge the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Recently, Nissan’s flagship SUV received a generation change with an updated platform, improved styling, and upgraded interior.

In global markets, the Nissan Patrol comes with a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that delivers a massive 425bhp and 700Nm of torque. Compared to the previous 5.6L V8 engine, the new one is over 100bhp more powerful. The same powertrain is likely to be introduced with the India-spec Patrol. Transmission duties are handled by a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV features a four-wheel drive (4WD) system that allows continuous drive to both front and rear wheels. The higher trims are exclusively offered with six terrain modes (Standard, Eco, Mud, Sand, Rock, and Sport) and adaptive air suspension.

As a flagship offering, the Nissan Patrol comes equipped with many high-tech features, including a dual 12.8-inch screen setup for the rear passengers, a 14.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control, a 14.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker Klipsch premium sound system, HUD, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging pads, adaptive cruise control, 8-way power adjustable front seats, USB-C ports for all rows, a powered tailgate, and more.

The Japanese automaker has also planned a new 5-seater midsize SUV for India, which will be based on the new Renault Duster. This model will share its platform, features, powertrain, and components with its donor SUV. However, the new Nissan SUV will carry the brand’s familiar design language, likely to align with the Magnite. Nissan India will also introduce a re-badged version of the 7-seater Renault Duster and an entry-level electric car.
