Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has announced an expansion of its preventive replacement campaign aimed at addressing potential issues with fuel pumps in specific models. The campaign, initially launched in 2020, now extends to 90,468 additional units manufactured between September 2017 and June 2018, with 2,204 vehicles previously fitted with replacement fuel pump assemblies also included. This voluntary recall addresses issues that may cause engine stalling or failure to start due to defective impellers in the fuel pumps.

Affected Honda Models and Production Timeline

The recall impacts a variety of Honda models sold within the specified production period. Owners of the following models are urged to verify if their vehicle is part of the campaign:

Honda Amaze: 18,851 units produced between September 19, 2017, and June 30, 2018.

Honda Brio: 3,317 units manufactured from August 8, 2017, to June 27, 2018.

Honda BR-V: 4,386 units produced between September 26, 2017, and June 14, 2018.

Honda City: 32,872 units from September 4, 2017, to June 29, 2018.

Honda Jazz: 16,744 units produced from September 4, 2017, to June 29, 2018.

Honda WR-V: 14,298 units built between September 5, 2017, and June 30, 2018.

Other Models: 2,204 units, including the Accord and Civic, which previously had fuel pump parts replaced through over-the-counter sales at Honda dealerships.

This expansion of the preventive campaign aims to safeguard vehicles against the risk of unexpected engine stalling due to defective fuel pump impellers, which could cause the engine to stop or fail to start.

Honda’s Approach to Customer Safety

Furthermore, any customers who purchased fuel pump assemblies from authorized Honda dealerships between June 2017 and October 2023 are advised to verify their parts’ status through a local Honda dealership.

Honda’s recall process includes an inspection and free replacement of the affected fuel pump components. Honda assures its customers that the service will be completed with minimal inconvenience and at no additional cost. The automaker has also been proactive in its outreach to customers to ensure they are informed and can access this service promptly.
