The domestic car market is gearing up for a surge in new electric vehicle launches in the next few years. Hyundai is expected to lead the charge with a lineup of EVs across multiple segments over the next three years – here’s a detailed look at what’s coming from the Korean brand:
1. Hyundai Creta EV:
Hyundai plans to launch a new midsize electric SUV, inspired by the popular Creta, in early 2025. This EV will be aimed at the growing electric vehicle market, competing with upcoming models like the Maruti Suzuki eVX, its Toyota variant, and the Tata Curvv.
Expected to use the electric motor from the Kona Electric, this SUV is likely to offer a range exceeding 450 km per charge, powered by a 45 kWh battery pack.

2. Hyundai Inster EV:
Hyundai’s upcoming electric micro SUV, tentatively slated for an India launch in 2026, is expected to rival the Tata Punch EV. Known globally as the Hyundai Inster, this model offers an estimated WLTP range of up to 355 km. In India, it will be positioned in the under Rs. 10 lakh space and will sit on the affordable version of the E-GMP platform.
3. Hyundai Ioniq 7 (or Ioniq 9):
Hyundai Seven Concept
Hyundai is expected to soon reveal its flagship SUV, inspired by the Seven Concept, under the name Ioniq 7 or Ioniq 9 globally. With Kia’s recent launch of the EV9 electric SUV in India, Hyundai may introduce the Ioniq 7 or 9 as a high-end electric SUV alternative, offering a potential premium option alongside the EV9 in the future.

4&5. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios EV & Venue EV:
The second generation Venue is slated to arrive by the middle of next year and based on it, an electric version could be introduced in the future. To directly take on the Tiago EV, Hyundai may as well bring in a zero-emission variant of the Grand i10 Nios.
