BITS Pilani Hyderabad Inaugurates CRENS: A New National Security Research Center, The new CRENS centre at BITS Pilani seeks to enhance national security through collaborative research, skill development, and entrepreneurship. A new Center for Research Excellence in National Security (CRENS) has been inaugurated at BITS Pilani Hyderabad to advance national security via technology. By collaborating on research, developing skills, and encouraging entrepreneurship, the centre hopes to support the growth of indigenous technology while also enhancing national security.

The primary guest during the opening ceremony was G Satheesh Reddy, a former scientific adviser to the minister of defence. Numerous dignitaries and academic members, including surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin and Dr. BHVS Narayana Murthy, vice chancellor of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, attended the launch as well.
BITS Pilani Hyderabad has recently inaugurated the Center for Research Excellence in National Security (CRENS), aiming to bolster national security through cutting-edge technology, collaborative research, skill development, and entrepreneurship. The centre is set to play a pivotal role in advancing Indigenous technology and fostering innovation to address the complex challenges of national security. The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including G Satheesh Reddy, former scientific adviser to the minister of defence, and other distinguished dignitaries.
Reddy unveiled the logo for CRENS and gave it its formal opening. He also emphasized the significance of developing new technology to combat asymmetric warfare. Partnerships with the tri-services, the DRDO, ISRO, DAE, police, paramilitary groups, defence PSUs, and industry.
The vice chancellor of BITS Pilani, Professor V Ramgopal Rao, gave a speech during the occasion and stated: “We are very proud to have a dedicated centre here at BITS Pilani Hyderabad. National security research and innovation is a domain that requires much more emphasis.” CRENS seeks to encourage research, foster innovation, and provide professional skills by bringing together important players in the field of national security. This will enable the nation to become self-sufficient in security science and technology.
