BYD India is ready to introduce yet another new offering in the coming weeks. Called the BYD M6, the electric MPV was first unveiled at this year’s GAIKINDO Indonesia Auto Show in July. It will serve as a replacement for the e6, which has now been delisted from the company’s official website. To generate excitement among buyers, the carmaker has released a teaser giving a glimpse of its LED headlamps with integrated twin LED DRLs.
Upfront, the M6 electric MPV features an angular hood, a revised bumper, and a new air vent with chrome accents. Since we are getting its facelifted version, the model also comes with newly designed alloy wheels. At the back, it sports new wraparound taillamps with improved LED detailing and a tweaked bumper with new chrome accents.
The interior of the BYD M6 is well-equipped with advanced features. The centre stage is taken by a new 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the 10.1-inch rotating unit. The new BYD electric MPV will also feature new analog dials for the instrumentation, a new drive selector and switchgear, two wireless charging pads, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and an electrically operable tailgate.
Globally, the M6 is available in 6- and 7-seat configurations. Its replacement in India, the e6, was offered only in a 5-seat layout, so it remains to be seen which seating configuration will be introduced in India.
Similar to the global-spec version, the M6 in India will come with two battery packs – a 55.4kWh and a 71.8kWh. Both batteries are paired with 161bhp and 201bhp electric motors, respectively. The torque output stands at 310Nm. Compared to its predecessor, the BYD M6 is more powerful and offers greater torque. The smaller battery delivers a claimed range of 420km, while the larger battery version offers 530km on a full charge.
