Citroen Basalt Interior Details Revealed In A New Teaser

A new teaser video of the upcoming Citroen Basalt coupe SUV highlights its interior features. The model has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and beige leatherette fabric upholstery with a unique pattern. The rear bench seat offers a fixed headrest, a foldable armrest with cup holders, and a three-point seatbelt. The coupe SUV will also come with features such as a wireless phone charger, front armrest with storage, auto climate control with toggle switches, cruise control, push-button start/stop, and keyless entry.
Unlike its upcoming rival, the Tata Curvv, which will come with a panoramic sunroof with voice assistance, the Citroen Basalt will miss out on this feature. In fact, it will also lack ADAS tech. On the safety front, the coupe SUV will have a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, a rear parking camera, and six airbags.
Under the hood, the Basalt will employ a 1.2L turbo petrol engine delivering a maximum power of 110PS and torque up to 205Nm. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the C3 Aircross SUV. Transmissions on offer will be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
With a high level of localization, the Basalt is expected to come at competitive pricing. Its entry-level variant could be priced around Rs 10 lakh – Rs 11 lakh, and the fully-loaded variant might cost around Rs 15 lakh (all ex-showroom).
Besides expanding its product portfolio, Citroen India will also expand its dealership network to 200 touchpoints (from 58 touchpoints) by the end of this calendar year. The company will set up its showrooms in over 140 regions across Tier I and Tier II cities. At present, Citroen has four models in its Indian product portfolio, including the C3 hatchback, eC3, C3 Aircross, and C5 Aircross SUVs. The French automaker will also make a major investment in its Tamil Nadu-based manufacturing facility and at its Chennai Tech Center for capital expenditure and research and development activities.
