While releasing the Compendium of All UGC Rules/Notifications from 1957 to 2023, the statutory body said it would be useful for the institutions to develop and implement their IDP.
“This comprehensive resource is a useful tool for higher educational institutions and students alike as it provides them with a single, accessible source for understanding the frameworks governing Indian higher education,” it said.
According to the Education Minister, the UGC Compendium of Regulations provides regulations regarding 15 rules, 87 regulations, and 28 notifications, covering inspections; the fitness of institutions for grants; return of information; budget and accounts; establishment; affiliation; autonomy; accreditation; admission and fees; specification of degrees among others. Accompanying the announcement, the chairman of UGC added with emphasis that “IDP acts as a roadmap for growth and excellence of higher educational institutions”. The first workshop was arranged in April 2024, and the second workshop also saw representation by experts and representatives from various universities in the country on IDP. “Thus, IDPs allow making clear goals, deploying resources, and monitoring progress, enabling institutions to improve their quality, relevance, and impact,” he added.
