Folie A Deux Opens Lower Than Half of Joker (2019); See Numbers
Joker: Folie A Deux box office —
Warner Bros.’ latest release, Joker: Folie A Deux, has had a disappointing weekend all over. Joker 2 is a rare comic book film to receive a “D” cinemascore by the audience, and the box office numbers seem to be clearly reflecting on the audience’s reactions. The musical sequel hardly managed to go close to half of its predecessor’s opening weekend numbers.
Joker: Folie A Deux opened to approx. $7 million in previews, followed by $13 million on opening day. The weekend total of the film is much behind earlier projections, which were hinting at $45-50 million after falling from $70 million. The exact numbers are in the range of $40 million—much lower than the half of the first film, which collected $96 million+ in 2019.

Internationally, Joker 2 has seen low numbers everywhere, as the estimated total suggests $80-81 million total over the weekend. This takes its global haul to $120 million, while Joker (2019) had done a business of $247 million in the opening weekend at the global box office on a similar date. It’s clear that WB’s musical sequel, led by Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, has turned into a musical tragedy of the year.
Below are the collections of Joker: Folie A Deux :
Domestic – $40 million
Overseas – $81 million
Worldwide – $121 million
