IIM Lucknow introduces great CoE in Blockchain Technology
IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre announced the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology (CoE-BT).
This initiative is supported by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under its StartInUP Policy. There is more to it than meets the eye as far as CoE-BT is concerned.
This significant development aims to create and nurture 100 startups in the blockchain domain over the next five years, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The CoE-BT represents a ground breaking effort to identify and support promising startups while promoting entrepreneurship in the rapidly evolving field of blockchain, say sources from IIM Lucknow.
This initiative aligns with the state government’s objective to enhance e-governance by ensuring trust, transparency and reliability across various sectors as use cases, say sources from IIM Lucknow.
Significance
Prof Ashish Dubey, Faculty-in-charge at IIM Lucknow-EIC spoke about the significance of this initiative.
The collaboration with Microsoft under CoE BT will identify new opportunities for innovations and support new technologies to stay ahead of the curve in the rapidly evolving field of blockchain, said Prof Ashish of IIM Lucknow-EIC.
This collaboration will be an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions in blockchain that will have a significant impact on technological infrastructure, he said.
Tech Enabler
The CoE-BT will serve as a technology enabler, offering stakeholders access to shared learning experiences, resources, and a dedicated blockchain platform, say sources from IIM Lucknow.
IIM Lucknow EIC will lead the training and onboarding of startups, providing comprehensive support that includes mentorship from over 50 industry and academic experts.
It will also lead the training and onboarding through industry connections, VC funding, and specialized training programs for students and aspiring entrepreneurs across various sectors with Blockchain based applications.
Outreach Centers
As part of the CoE initiative, IIM Lucknow EIC, in partnership with Microsoft India, will establish three outreach centers across Uttar Pradesh to promote and nurture blockchain-based innovation.
The proposed regions for these centers are Gorakhpur, Lucknow, and Greater Noida/Meerut, say sources from IIM Lucknow.
Unique Facility
The Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology will serve as a unique facility within the state, acting as both a Resource and Technology Development Center.
It will be dedicated to advancing the state’s technological capabilities and fostering a thriving ecosystem for blockchain innovation.
