Interview: Prosenjit Chatterjee (‘Jubilee’, ‘Shesh Pata’, ‘Ajogyo’)
Nice engaging interview, BR! Though I have not watched all of Prosenjit’s films, he seemed relaxed and eager to talk to you. Nearly 40 years at the top and still relevant today, it’s great to hear that he’s no longer in the rat race and is getting good roles befitting him as an actor by the younger generation.
I hear that Ajogyo, the 50th film of Prosenjit-Rituparna is a blockbuster. Good for them!
If I am not mistaken, I think Bengali actresses still act as the lead well into their 50s and 60s unlike the other Indian industries. Debashree Roy is still playing lead roles in her 60s and Rituparna is still going strong in her 50s. Of course, since everyone is crazily obsessed with box office results, not all of Debashree and Rituparna’s recent films work. Wonder if Raima Sen and Paoli Dam can have that type of longevity though OTT has been more beneficial to them.
