IUML moves Supreme Courtroom looking for keep as centre implements CAA

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has moved the Supreme Courtroom urgently searching for a keep on the implementation of the Citizenship Modification Act, 2019, citing the act as ‘unconstitutional and discriminatory’. This arrives a day soon after the central federal government notified the regulations and restrictions of the CAA’s implementation, practically 5 many years soon after this act was handed in the Indian parliament.

Passed by the Indian parliament in December 2019 and assented by the president in the very same month, the act aims to give citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, wherever these communities are in excessive minority and are consistently persecuted for not accepting Islam. The move aligns with the Centre’s intention to present refuge to minorities facing religious persecution in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

In a publish on X, Union Residence Minister Amit Shah on Monday explained, “The Modi govt right now notified the Citizenship (Modification) Principles, 2024. These policies will now allow minorities persecuted on spiritual grounds in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to receive citizenship in our nation. With this notification PM Narendra Modi Ji has shipped on yet another commitment and realised the promise of the makers of our structure to the Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians residing in people nations around the world.”
