Land Rover Defender at Local Aftermarket Shop for Interior Mods

A Land Rover Defender owner went for extreme aftermarket modifications as the luxury SUV is dismantled from the inside completely. I have seen the trend of aftermarket car modification grow exponentially in the last couple of years. People have access to professional car shops that are willing to perform all sorts of alterations to just about any car. Still, to rip open a Rs 2 Crore SUV for additional accessories is something I need to get my head around. Generally, people bring their affordable cars to go for extravagant components. But what can you possibly do to an already high-end luxury car?

Land Rover Defender with Aftermarket Modifications

The details of this post stem from autojournal_india on Instagram. The description of the post mentions that this took place in Karol Bagh, Delhi. I am sure you must be aware of the fact that Karol Bagh is the go-to choice for a whole bunch of people to customize their cars. Mostly, people purchase the base model of a car and then visit the car shops in this area to add more accessories. However, dismantling a Land Rover seems like such a terrible idea. One just can’t compete with the fit-and-finish of a luxury car marque. Hence, putting it back would never feel the same.

Also, I am thoroughly intrigued by what the owner wanted. In the stock configuration, it gets premium materials all around the cabin including upholstery, steering wheel, door panels, dashboard, centre console, etc. Hence, it is almost impossible to think that there could be any aftermarket accessory which will be of higher quality than the stock components of a luxury car. Needless to mention, the netizens were shocked to see this.

Our View

I must admit I was taken aback when I saw the Land Rover Defender in Karol Bagh for aftermarket modifications. However, some comments even mention that this could be a replica and not the original Defender. If that were the case, I can understand the need for aftermarket customizations. But if it is not so, I still can’t figure out any logical reason for this. This is yet another instance of why the Indian roads are some of the most bizarre in the world.
