The special Mahindra Thar Roxx with the VIN 0001 is up for auction. The Indian auto giant is opening the registration for the bidding process on September 12, 2024. This will be a great chance for a special customer to own a part of the legacy of the first 5-door Mahindra Thar. This will be the first Mahindra Thar Roxx ever sold. Mahindra says that the amount accumulated via the auction will go towards a worthy cause. This is a common practice in the automobile industry. Organizations often have special edition models of cars on auction to raise money for useful causes. Mostly, it is related to charity or donation to a relatable cause.

The image has been shared by the official mahindrathar handle on Instagram. The text on the image reads, “‘The’ First Of ‘The’ SUV. Bid for a cause”. Right next to this text is a badge which reads VIN:0001 with Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd and Thar Roxx lettering. It will be signed by Anand Mahindra. The auction starts on September 15 and the bids will be accepted till September 16 by 9 PM. We will need to wait to know what the bidding amount goes up to. With this, the first owner of the Mahindra Thar Roxx will become a part of the history of this moniker along with having the satisfaction of knowing that his money is going towards helping someone in some way and bettering the society.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx comes with two powertrain options with slightly different engine calibrations depending on the type of transmission on offer. There is either a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol mill or a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel mill. The former generates 162 PS (MT) / 330 Nm to 177 PS (AT) / 380 Nm, while these figures are 163 PS (MT) / 330 Nm and 175 PS / 370 Nm of peak power and torque for the diesel version. Performing the transmission duties is either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The Indian automaker has announced that the 4×4 configuration will be available with the diesel engine only. Also, the prices of the 4×4 versions will be announced later. The regular Thar Roxx ranges from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh, ex-showroom.

Our View
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is the 5-door iteration of the mighty popular 3-door Thar. It is designed to remedy the shortcomings of the 3-door iteration. This includes things like a roomier second row and a large boot compartment. However, Mahindra has gone further than simply extending the wheelbase. The new Thar Roxx gets an updated platform, tons of modern safety elements like ADAS, more powerful engines and loads of high-tech features to pamper the customers. We just need to wait for the price announcement of the 4×4 trims to see how people embrace it.
