The Mahindra XUV.e8 concept-based electric SUV is set to be the next big product launch from the indigenous automaker in India. The model has entered its final stages of development, and we have seen it numerous times during test rounds, often covered in heavy or semi-camouflage. It is essentially the electric iteration of the XUV700 SUV, which is slated to launch in December 2024.

Interestingly, the XUV.e8 will be the first Mahindra EV to be based on the brand’s born-electric INGLO platform, which supports AWD and RWD setups for SUVs measuring between 4,368mm and 4,735mm. According to the carmaker, the INGLO architecture features a standardized battery pack design utilizing cell-to-pack technology.

Recently, spy images of the upcoming Mahindra electric SUV’s interior have surfaced online, confirming the presence of a three-screen setup integrated into the dashboard. The displays on the right and left are the fully digital instrument cluster and the screen for the front passenger, respectively. The central display is the touchscreen infotainment unit, which is likely to support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The EV will also feature a newly designed flat-bottomed two-spoke steering wheel and a new touch-based climate control panel. It is expected to share several features with the ICE-powered XUV700, such as a 360-degree camera, ADAS suite, adaptive cruise control, ventilated seats, blind view monitor, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone mirroring, and more.

Specifications of the Mahindra XUV.e8 are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to come with a battery pack ranging between 60-80kWh. The expected range is between 400km and 450km, with power outputs between 230bhp and 350bhp.

In terms of design, the new Mahindra electric SUV will differ slightly from its ICE counterpart, the XUV700. The XUV.e8 is likely to feature a differently styled front grille, new bumpers, redesigned alloy wheels, and a distinctive kink near the C-pillar.
