Mallika Sherawat Claims ‘Chamchagiri’ Is Key To Success In Bollywood But She Couldn’t Do It

The bold actress Mallika Sherawat who recently made her comeback with a cameo in the Bollywood movie “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” shared candid thoughts about the film industry in a tell-all interview on a podcast.
She discussed how one has to navigate Bollywood’s complex dynamics by being extremely diplomatic to avoid losing out on roles. Mallika also said that mastering the art of “chamchagiri” a term used for flattery and appeasement, is important to succeed in the industry.

Mallika is of the opinion that one has be very diplomatic in the Hindi movie industry, she adds that people get easily offended if a person is not diplomatic and he/she will certainly lose out on projects. As per the actress, bad things are said about you and Chamchagiri (flattering) is the name of the game but she can’t do all this because she is from Haryana and she is not ready for all such things.
Mallika Sherawat had once talked about the challenges she faced in Bollywood because of her bold on-screen image and a video of that chat recently went viral on Reddit. She explained that many top actors assumed she would be open to off-screen advances due to her daring roles. They would call her at night, thinking her on-screen boldness meant she would meet them in real life. However, Mallika made it clear that she wouldn’t compromise her values and rejected their advances.
Mallika was last seen in “RK/RKay”, which released in 2022 and she took a five-year break before that. She shot to fame with “Murder” opposite Emraan Hashmi and besides Bollywood, she has also worked in international projects such as “Hisss”, “Time Raiders” and “Dirty Politics”. She will be next seen in “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” which stars Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri in lead roles.

As per the reports, “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” earned around Rs. 5 crores on its opening day which is higher than the collections of Alia Bhatt starrer “Jigra” which released on the same day (11 Oct). It has been reported that the movie has been made on a budget of around Rs. 30 crores and it has already collected nearly Rs. 10 crores in two days which means it will recover its budget within a week.
