The Mercedes EQS SUV, the sixth electric offering from the German luxury carmaker in India, is now on sale at an introductory price of Rs 1.41 crore (ex-showroom). Compared to the EQE, which costs Rs 1.39 crore, it’s nearly Rs 2 lakh more expensive. With this price tag, it competes directly with the Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX in the country.
First talking about its powertrain, the Mercedes EQS comes in a single variant equipped with a 122kWh battery and dual electric motors. The combined power and torque outputs are 544bhp and 858Nm, respectively. The electric SUV, with its AWD drivetrain, can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.7 seconds. It’s claimed to offer an ARAI-certified range of 809km on a full charge. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes using a 200kW DC fast charger, while a standard 7.4kW AC charger takes 18.5 hours for a full charge.
The EQS 580 4Matic variant is a well-equipped luxury machine. Its interior highlight is the Hyperscreen setup, featuring a conjoined 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen. For entertainment, the electric SUV comes with a 15-speaker Burmester sound system and dual 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens. The EQS offers a 7-seat configuration along with features like five-zone climate control, illuminated running boards, puddle lamps, a Level 2 ADAS suite, nine airbags, and many more.
The exterior of the Mercedes EQS SUV features a blacked-out panel grille that extends toward the lower section of the bumper at the front. Other design highlights include LED headlamps connected by a LED light bar, revised rear bumpers, and full-width LED taillamps. Compared to the GLS, the new EQS is nearly 82mm shorter and 3mm wider. It also sits 105mm lower than its sibling.
