JSW MG Motor India has announced the prices for all three variants of the Windsor EV, which is available in three trims – Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. The entry-level Excite variant is priced at ₹13.50 lakh, while the Exclusive and Essence variants are priced at ₹14.50 lakh and ₹15.50 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom. Bookings for the new MG Windsor EV will begin on 3rd October 2024.
With the Windsor EV, the carmaker has introduced an industry-first ownership programme called BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service). This battery rental plan allows customers to either pay for the EV upfront or via loan, while paying separately for the battery on a rental basis. The company has partnered with four financiers for this scheme – Bajaj Finance Limited, VidyutTech Services Private Limited, Herofin Corp, Ecofy, and Autovert Technologies Private Limited. MG’s BaaS scheme not only reduces the upfront ownership cost of an electric car but also lowers its running costs over periods such as 3 years or 5 years. The MG Windsor EV is available on a rental charge of ₹3.5 per km.
The powertrain setup of the Windsor EV consists of a 38kWh LFP battery with prismatic cells and an electric motor mounted on the front axle. The e-motor delivers a maximum power of 136bhp and 200Nm of torque. The electric MPV offers a claimed range of 331km and comes with four driving modes – Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport.
MG claims that the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 55 minutes using a 45kW fast charger. Buyers also have the option of using a 3.3kW or 7.7kW AC charger, which take approximately 14 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively, to fully charge the battery. The carmaker is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery for the first owner, an assured 60% buyback after three years, and one year of free charging at public chargers using the eHUB by MG app.
