Kia India has begun teasing its upcoming new Carnival MPV and EV9 electric SUV to generate buzz among buyers. Prices for both models will be announced on 3rd October, with deliveries likely to begin by Diwali 2024. The vehicles will initially be brought to India via the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route. However, the company has plans to start local assembly of the new Carnival at a later stage. Select Kia dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the MPV with a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.

As fully imported units, the 2024 Kia Carnival MPV and EV9 are expected to be priced around Rs 50 lakh and above Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom), respectively. While the Carnival won’t have a direct rival in India, the EV9 will compete with the BMW iX, which is priced at Rs 1.40 crore.

Kia Carnival Teaser

The official teaser of the new Carnival confirms that the MPV will feature a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and two sunroofs positioned over the front and middle-row seats. Read: Upcoming Kia Carens Facelift – Top 7 Changes

Additional features include a heads-up display (HUD), ambient lighting, front and rear dash cams, a digital inside rearview mirror, and an updated digital key with fingerprint recognition. Globally, the MPV is available in three seating configurations – 7, 9, and 11. In India, it’s likely to retain the 2.2L, four-cylinder diesel engine.

Kia EV9 Teaser

The Kia EV9 will be the flagship electric offering from the South Korean automaker in India. This three-row SUV is built on the born-electric e-GMP flexible skateboard platform, which is also used for several Kia and Hyundai EVs. The EV9 has an upright stance, and many of its design elements are inspired by the globally sold EV3 and EV5. Specifications for the India-specific version have yet to be revealed. In global markets, it is available in two single-motor RWD and one dual-motor AWD configurations.
