Renault Triber Scores 2 Stars In Global NCAP Crash Test
Renault Triber scores 2 stars for Adult & Child Occupant ProtectionRenault Triber previously scored 4 stars in Global NCAP crash tests for India back in 2021. Now, with the updated protocols, the made in India Triber scores only 2 stars for the African market. The MPV has scored 2 stars each for Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection. While the vehicle showed commendable protection for certain body regions, there were notable areas where improvements are necessary. In the evaluation, the Triber demonstrated good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck. However, the protection for the driver’s chest was deemed weak in both frontal and side impact tests. The structural performance of the vehicle was assessed as unstable, which could potentially compromise occupant safety in severe collisions. Notably, the car provided good protection for the head, abdomen and pelvis in side impacts.A significant limitation of the Triber is the absence of side airbags, even as an optional feature. Additionally, the vehicle does not come with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as a standard offering, which could enhance its safety profile. The safety assessment also highlighted concerns in child occupant protection. The lack of ISOFIX anchorages is a notable omission, affecting the secure installation of child restraint systems (CRS). During testing, the Q3 dummy, representing a three-year-old child, exhibited a poor performance with inadequate protection for the head in a forward crash and poor protection for the neck and chest. Conversely, the Q1.5 dummy, representing a one-and-a-half-year-old child, received good protection ratings in both tests.Additional concerns include the absence of three-point restraints in all seating positions and the lack of a passenger airbag disconnection feature when using a rearward-facing CRS in the front passenger seat. These issues contributed to a lower overall score and star rating for the vehicle in the child occupant protection category.
