The Skoda Kylaq will be more premium than the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger, and in the subcompact SUV space, it will compete with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. It will be the first model under Skoda’s India 2.5 strategy, and the third product to be designed on the MQB-A0-IN platform.

Under the hood, the new Skoda compact SUV will feature a 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine, which will be available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The gasoline motor produces a maximum power of 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. Skoda claims that the Kylaq has been tested in extreme weather conditions over 800,000km. The Skoda Kylaq measures 3,995mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,566mm and a ground clearance of 189mm. Up front, it features Skoda’s signature radiator grille, new LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and a sporty bumper. Moving to its side profile, the SUV boasts blacked-out alloy wheels and roof rails. The rear section is adorned with pentagon-shaped taillamps with LED inserts, a hefty bumper, and a sculpted tailgate.

Skoda says that the Kylaq comes equipped with more than 25 active and passive safety features. Its safety kit includes six airbags, electronic brake distribution, anti-lock braking system, traction and stability control, rollover protection, electronic differential lock, brake disc wiping, motor slip regulation, passenger airbag deactivation, Isofix seats, and multi-collision braking.
