Suzuki India Recalls Nearly 4 Lakh Scooters; Access, Avenis, Burgman 125 Among Affected

Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced a significant recall for three of its 125cc scooters: the Access 125, Burgman Street 125, and Avenis 125. This recall affects a total of 388,411 scooters manufactured between April 30, 2022, and December 3, 2022. The company describes this as a precautionary measure and is contacting scooter owners to have their vehicles inspected and, if necessary, repaired at the nearest service centre. The recall addresses potential issues such as engine stalling, starting failure, speed display errors, and the engine not starting. The official recall notice provides further details on these problems, emphasizing the importance of the inspection and potential repairs.  In the recall, Suzuki stated: ‘Since high tension cord which did not meet the drawing requirements (NG) was installed to ignition coil, crack and breakage occurred in high tension cord due to repeated bending caused by engine oscillation during running, resulting in engine stall and starting failure. Further, when a cracked high tension cord is exposed to water, the vehicle speed sensor and throttle position sensor may be damaged by the leaked ignition output, resulting in speed display failure or starting failure.’ Also Read: 2024 Suzuki Burgman Street, Access 125 Launched with New Colour Options in India Suzuki V-Strom 800DE Recall Suzuki Motorcycle India has also initiated a recall for 67 units of its recently launched V-Strom 800DE adventure motorcycle.
