Tata Curvv will be available in petrol, diesel and electric powertrain optionsTata Motors is set to launch the Curvv coupe SUV in its production form on 7th August, marking a significant addition to their lineup with EV, petrol and diesel variants. The Curvv recently debuted in production-spec form but remains under wraps regarding some specifications and interior design details. However, key information about its battery specifications and diesel powertrain has emerged. The Tata Curvv EV will feature two battery options. Higher-spec variants will come equipped with a 55kWh battery pack, while the lower-spec variants are expected to use the 40.5kWh battery from the Nexon LR. The 55kWh battery’s range details are yet to be disclosed, but it is anticipated to exceed 550 km, given the 40.5kWh battery has an ARAI-claimed range of 465km. The Curvv EV will compete with upcoming models like the Citroen Basalt, Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX, which are expected to feature 45kWh and 60kWh batteries, respectively. Both Curvv EV variants will be powered by a front-axle-mounted electric motor with exact specifications expected to be revealed closer to the launch date. The Curvv will be generously equipped with features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen, fully digital driver’s display, segment-first powered tailgate with gesture function, panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seats and ventilated front seats. Additionally, the top-spec variants will offer ADAS Level 2.The Curvv’s diesel variant will feature a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, a first for mass-market SUVs in India. The 7-speed DCT will be paired with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, the same engine used in the Nexon. This diesel-DCT combination will set the Curvv apart in its segment, where competitors like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos utilise torque converter automatics.Tata Motors will offer a diverse powertrain lineup for the Curvv, including a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine delivering 120 HP, new direct injection turbo petrol engine generating 125 HP and 1.5-litre diesel engine available with both manual and 7-speed DCT options. What are your thoughts on this new body style for the Indian market?
