Amitabh Bachchan made headlines recently as he prepares to grace the Tamil film industry for the first time with his upcoming project, Vettaiyan. Despite his inability to attend the film’s preview and audio launch in Chennai on September 20, the 81-year-old superstar ensured his presence was felt through a heartfelt video message, particularly directed towards his esteemed co-actor, Rajinikanth.

In his recorded message, Bachchan expressed his gratitude and admiration, stating, “Vettaiyan is my first Tamil film, I’m very honoured. Rajinikanth is the supreme of all stars.”

The camaraderie between the two legendary actors traces back to the 1991 film Hum, directed by Mukul S. Anand. In this memorable project, Rajinikanth portrayed the younger sibling of Amitabh’s character, alongside another actor, Govinda.
Reflecting on their shared experiences during the shoot, Bachchan fondly recalled how the simplicity and humility of Rajinikanth left a lasting impression on him. He recounted, “I used to rest in my AC vehicle while shooting for Hum, and Rajini slept on the floor during breaks. Watching him be so simple, I came out of the vehicle and rested outside.”
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan showcases Rajinikanth in the role of an encounter specialist in the police force, while Amitabh Bachchan plays his superior officer. The film promises to be a thrilling narrative, and it is set to hit theaters on October 10 in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
