GT Force GT Drive Pro Test Ride Review

Let’s face it – the world of electric two-wheelers is evolving rapidly. Today, we have over a dozen contenders in the electric scooter segment, with options ranging from bargain-basement models to high-end vehicles from some renowned manufacturers. While the latter appeal to the enthusiast, the former clearly make sense for those looking for pocket-friendly options for short daily commutes. Keeping this in mind, today, I’ll talk about the GT Force GT Drive Pro. Priced attractively, this electric scooter aims to target the value-seekers in the entry-level 2W EV segment. We spent some time on the saddle and here’s what we feel.

Blends In

The GT Force GT Drive Pro easily blends in with the crowd. Though its design is sharp and angular, it still looks much like a conventional ICE scooter from the budget-end of the market. That said, certain elements do give it a somewhat futuristic vibe. The front apron is quite angular and holds a stylish pair of indicators and DRLs that give the scooter a distinct look. But the real highlight is the headlamp on the handlebar. The LED setup offers bright illumination and gives the scooter a distinct look. The scooter rides on stylish alloy wheels that add some more jazz to its aesthetics. Overall, I appreciate the overall attention to small details, but certain bits can do with better finish and build quality.

Surprisingly Well-Equipped

In terms of features, the GT Drive Pro covers all the basics and then some. You get a fully digital instrument cluster that displays speed, battery percentage, and distance to empty. There’s even a USB charger, anti-theft alarm, hazard indicator, emergency assist, and battery health optimisation.

Also, there’s a very car-like remote key, which is another highlight of the equipment list. But my favourite bit is the reverse mode, which makes parking this scooter in tight spaces (or out of them) a breeze. Another car-like feature on offer is the cruise control.All in all, the scooter ends up scoring many brownie points by offering equipment that’s generally found only on the costlier models.

Feels at Home in Urban Jungle

The GT Drive Pro doesn’t claim to be a speed demon, but it offers decent acceleration for city commuting. The scooter can hit a top speed of around 55-60 km/h, which is sufficient for navigating through urban traffic. It’s smooth and quiet, as you’d expect from an electric scooter, and there’s no lag when you twist the throttle. The scooter even offers three riding modes, which offer varying top whacks. One can cap the top-end performance using the lower riding modes to maximise the battery juice. What impresses me is how the scooter felt adequately responsive to even minute throttle inputs. All in all, it’s nimble and quick enough for zipping through tight spaces. However, any sporty aspirations should be ket under a check. This e-scooter is built for short city rides and it is exactly what it tries to excel at.

The GT Drive Pro rides on telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The suspension setup is on the softer side. So, it soaks up most of the undulations. Moreover, the lightweight construction makes it easy to manoeuver this scooter through tight spaces and heavy traffic. While not a corner carver, the scooter feels well-balanced. There’s no ABS but the braking system – disc at front, drum at rear – do a good job.

Battery, Range, Price and Warranty

The GT Drive Pro comes with a 2.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a claimed range of around 100-110 km on a single charge. In real-world conditions, I reckon the range to be closer to 85-90 km, which is still impressive for a scooter in this segment. The battery takes 4 hours 30 minutes for 0-80% charging. There’s no fast charging option yet, but for daily city use, the charging time is manageable. Available in a single variant, this electric scooter costs Rs 85,999 (ex-showroom). The 3 years/60,000 kms warranty makes this scooter a tad more attractive option to those on the fence about going electric.

What I Feel

So, is the GT Force GT Drive Pro worth considering? In a word – yes. It’s a well-rounded electric scooter that caters to the needs of city commuters. It doesn’t promise mind-blowing performance, but it delivers well in the urban environment. The design is modern, there are many features and the performance as well as the range is sufficient for short daily rides. I wish for better fit and finish but there’s little else going against this entry-level electric scooter. If you’re in the market for an affordable electric scooter that’s built for short city commutes, the GT Force GT Drive Pro is definitely among the more sensible options.
