Hyundai Alcazar Surpasses 75,000 Unit Sales Milestone in 3 Years Since India Launch

Hyundai Motor India’s flagship mid-size SUV, the Alcazar, has crossed the 75,000-unit sales milestone, which took about three years for the company to achieve. Hyundai also exported 27,176 units of the Alcazar to international markets, taking the count to 1,02,682 units. Last fiscal (FY2024), Hyundai could sell 20,753 units in India, down by 22 per cent, while the Alcazar SUV created the best-ever sales record for Hyundai in FY2023. The company delivered 26,696 units of the SUV in FY2023, representing an increase of 3.1 per cent year-on-year. As for the first two months of the current fiscal year (April–May 2024), the domestic sales stood at 2,163 units, which is a de-growth of 52 per cent compared to 4,480 units sold during April–May 2023. However, exports rose by 45 per cent year-on-year to 2,130 units from April–May 2023’s 1,466 units.  Also Read: Hyundai Exter, i20, Alcazar and More Attract Discounts of up to Rs 70,000 in June 2024 Launched in June 2021, the three-row Hyundai Alcazar is the company’s fifth SUV to join the Venue, Creta, Tucson, and Kona in the line-up. Based on the Creta, the Alcazar gets two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The former, which is mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT gearbox, develops 158bhp and 253Nm of peak torque, whereas the latter, paired with either a six-speed manual or an automatic torque converter unit, generates 113bhp and 250Nm of maximum torque.   Features-wise, the SUV offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, as well as a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. It also gets an idle engine start/stop function, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, ventillated front seats, traction and driving modes, and a voice-controlled panoramic sunroof. For safety, it packs in six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution), reverse parking sensors, TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system), electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, and hill start assist control. While styling elements are expected to be on the lines of the new Creta, the 2024 Alcazar could receive a revised tail-light design, LED daytime running lamps and grille, as well as new dual-tone alloy wheels. One can also expect a redesigned dashboard along with new interior colour options. However, the powertrain is likely to remain untouched. Upon arrival, the SUV will continue to rival the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Jeep Compass.
