Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, other releases and the rest of the box office

My little note on Panchayat:

The charm of the first two seasons might have rubbed off on the third, but Panchayat Season 3 has now taken up unchartered territory. The focus is now on the cat-and-mouse game between a local MLA and the Phulera gang.
What intrigued me about the first season was the local, slice-of-life struggles and the ‘a-day-in-the-life-of-a-village-secretary’ format, each episode a supremely entertaining anecdote. This has now turned into a political game and not the series I fell in love with.
The characters and actors still propel it forward. Some parts work well, like the facade around the PM Awas Yojna and the fiasco involving the pigeon, and the woman playing the daadi is fun to watch. But the writers now seem to have run out of ideas. How I wish this had steered clear of going the Mirzapur way.
