Suzuki eWX looks quirky in this new design language, MG Comet rivalSuzuki has secured a patent for the design of its upcoming electric hatchback, the eWX, in India. First introduced as a concept at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show, the eWX is poised to become an entry-level city EV.The eWX concept measures just 3.4 meters in length, aligning with Japan’s Kei car restrictions. Its compact dimensions and boxy, tallboy design draw inspiration from the Suzuki Wagon R, yet it is even smaller than the S-Presso currently available in India. This design choice reflects a focus on maximising space efficiency and manoeuvrability, ideal for congested urban environments.Visually, the eWX concept remains distinctly conceptual, featuring unique elements such as a curved windshield extending beyond the A-pillars and a design void of headlamps and B-pillars. It also gets body cladding and fully covered wheel caps. While Suzuki has yet to disclose detailed specifications for the eWX, it is anticipated to feature a single-motor setup as standard. The company previously indicated that the concept could offer a range of around 230 km on a single charge.Maruti Suzuki has not yet provided specifics regarding the eWX’s launch in India. However, reports suggest that an eWX-based hatchback will be introduced to Maruti’s portfolio around 2026-27. This new model is expected to compete with existing EVs in the Indian market, such as the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV. It will be built on the K-EV platform, which emphasises localisation to meet regional market demands. In addition to the eWX, Suzuki is also developing the eVX, a mid-size electric SUV set to be its first EV offering in India. Initially slated for a September 2024 launch, the eVX’s production has been postponed to February 2025. This SUV is designed to compete with upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta EV.How do you like this quirky electric vehicle concept by Suzuki? Let us know in the comments section below.
